Juan Uribe strains right hamstring in win over Mets

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Uribe missed five games with a strained right hamstring last week.

Tuesday turned out to be a very costly day for the Dodgers infield. Third baseman Juan Uribe was 2-for-5, but left the game in the ninth inning after aggravating his right hamstring strain in the ninth inning.

The Dodgers say they will wait until Wednesday to make a decision, per Danny Knobler of ESPN LA.

Uribe doubled down the left field line in the ninth inning, but limped into second base. He left the game after conferring with team trainers. Uribe strained his right hamstring on May 8 against the Giants then missed the next five games. He was limited to one pinch hit appearance, a double, on May 14 against the Marlins, before returning to the starting lineup on Friday in Phoenix.

On the season Uribe is hitting .303/.331/.454, including 5-for-18 (.278) with two doubles since his return.

Depending on how long Uribe is out, they don't have much depth to deal with any injuries.

Alex Guerrero, hitting .376/.417/.735 in the Pacific Coast League, played shortstop the last two days for Triple-A Albuquerque and the plan was to have him get some time at third base as well before eventually joining the Dodgers as a utility man. But those plans were dashed after Guerrero's fight with teammate Miguel Olivo earlier Tuesday in Salt Lake City, which could result in Guerrero missing up to five weeks per Knobler.

Justin Turner pinch ran for Uribe on Tuesday night and started five of six games at third base last week with Uribe sidelined. If the Dodgers do need to call someone up for Uribe, infielder Carlos Triunfel is the most likely option.
