Crawford left Tuesday's game in the eighth inning, suffering a left ankle sprain in left field. He said after the game he would be placed on the disabled list.

Dodgers outfielder Carl Crawford left Tuesday's win over the Reds in the eighth inning, spraining his left ankle while chasing down a double in the left field corner.

On the SportsNet LA television broadcast, Alanna Rizzo reported during the ninth inning that X-rays on Crawford's ankle were negative, but that doesn't mean he won't miss time.

"It didn't look good, obviously. The video didn't look good, Stan [Conte, team trainer] didn't sound good," manager Don Mattingly said after the game. "We always say we'll wait until tomorrow to see, but it didn't look good."

Crawford was in a boot after the game, and said he would be played on the 15-day disabled list.

Chris Heisey led off the eighth inning with a double down the left field line, and while chasing the ball down Crawford appeared to turn his left ankle at the lip of the grass and the warning track.

Crawford was limping and hopping around immediately and left the game with the help of Conte, and was replaced in left field by Scott Van Slyke.

Crawford has been red hot in May, hitting .333/.358/.513 with four home runs during the month, including 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored on Tuesday. He started five games in a row in left field and in nine of the last 10 games, and 17 of the last 22 contests.

Matt Kemp has been taking fly balls before games in left field, but has yet to start at the position. Kemp hasn't played the field in the last five games, limited to a pair of pinch hitting appearances.

The Dodgers have no other outfielders on the 40-man roster, but they do have an open spot if they need to add somebody in a corresponding move for Crawford.
