Chris Withrow sidelined with undisclosed injury

Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers relief pitcher Chris Withrow hasn't pitched in eight days, and the reason appears to be an injury of some sort, the details of which haven't been revealed. Manager Don Mattingly acknowledged after Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Reds that Withrow is dealing with ... something.

"There's some stuff going on. I don't know what they're willing to release at this point," Mattingly said. "I know medical is getting to the point where they'll release something."

Withrow last pitched for the Dodgers on May 20, when he recorded two outs in the seventh inning of a 9-4 win over the Mets in New York. The next day, Withrow was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque to make room on the roster for starter Hyun-jin Ryu in his return from the disabled list.

Normally, players report to their minor league assignment within a few days — the collective bargaining agreement allows up to 72 hours for the player to report — but as of Wednesday Withrow still had not been added to the Isotopes roster.

Withrow has a 2.95 ERA in 20 appearances for the Dodgers this season, with 28 strikeouts and 18 walks in 21⅓ innings.
