Yasiel Puig continues to lead NL outfielders in All-Star votes

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Puig is trying to become the fourth Dodgers outfielder to have been elected to start an All-Star Game, joining Carl Crawford (2010, with Tampa Bay), Andre Ethier (2010) and Matt Kemp (2011-2012, though Kemp didn't play in 2012).

LOS ANGELES -- It appears Yasiel Puig will make a return trip to Minnesota in mid-July. The Dodgers outfielder for the fourth week in a row continues to lead all National League outfielders in All-Star votes.

Puig has received 2,468,376 total votes, though reigning MVP Andrew McCutchen of the Pirates (2,461,722 votes) is closing in on him. Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez is third with 2,409,860 votes, followed by Giancarlo Stanton of the Martins (2,130,519) and Ryan Braun (1,974,845).

The 2015 All-Star Game will be played at Target Field in Minnesota on Tuesday, July 15. Puig had three multi-hit games earlier this year in Minnesota, going 8-for-14 (.571) with a double in a three-game Dodgers sweep.

Adrian Gonzalez remains a now-distant second among NL first basemen with 1,239,509 votes, trailing Paul Goldschmidt of the Diamondbacks (1,962,386).

Dee Gordon is in third place at second base with 1,129,759 votes. He trails Chase Utley of the Phillies (2,090,110 votes) and Neil Walker of the Pirates.

Hanley Ramirez is in fifth place among shortstops. Troy Tulowitzki leads at the position with 3,287,460 votes, one of only players in the NL with more votes than Puig. Yadier Molina of the Cardinals (2,600,853 votes) leads at catcher.

NL All-Star voting updates: May 28 June 3 June 9 June 15

There is a battle at third base, with Aramis Ramirez of Milwaukee leading with 1,279,902 votes, narrowly ahead of David Wright of the Mets (1,260,895) and Pablo Sandoval of the Giants (1,194,607) . No other Dodgers player is in the top five at their position.

In-stadium voting across baseball runs through Thursday, and online voting continues through 8:59 p.m. PT on July 3. The All-Star teams will be announced during the weekend of July 5-6.
