The Lookouts, Raptors, Arizona Dodgers, and Dominican Dodgers all go strong pitching performances from their starters on Monday

Minor League Player of the DayJose De Leon (Ogden) - 7 IP, 5 hits, 1 run, 0 walks, 12 K's.  De Leon had the best game of his career as he struck out 12 in the Raptors win.  After an average debut in 2013, the former 24th round pick is looking to make a name for himself in his sophomore season.

AAA – The Isotopes scored 3 in the 3rd, but that was it as Albuquerque fell to the Cubs 4 to 3.  Starter Jeff Bennett lasted 6 innings and struck out 7, however he also allowed 9 hits and 4 runs (3 earned).  Steve Smith followed with 1.1 scoreless frames then Paco Rodriguez struck out both hitters he faced.  At the dish the Topes had just 2 extra base hits as both Erisbel Arruebarrena and Alex Liddi doubled.  Joc Pederson reached base 3 times on two singles and a walk, while Tim Federowicz cooled down quickly with an 0 for 4 game.

AA – The Lookouts downed the Smokies (Cubs) 7 to 3 behind Raydel Sanchez's brilliant performance.  While Sanchez struck out just 1 over 6 innings of work, he allowed just 2 base runners and did not give up a run.  Jhan Martinez permitted 3 runs in relief, but Juan Gonzalez was solid over the final 2 frames to close out the victory.  At the plate Scott Schebler went 2 for 5 with a 2 run bomb, his 14th of the season, and his 4th stolen base.  Darnell Sweeney went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI's, while Casio Grider was a perfect 2 for 2 with a two-bagger, a triple, and a walk.

HiA – The Quakes scored 11 runs by the 3rd inning, then had to hold on for a 15 - 11 win over the Mavericks (Mariners).  Everyone on offense contributed in this win, but Corey Seager led the way with 4 hits including a double.  Steven Proscia was the big RBI man as he went 3 for 5 with a homer and 4 runs batted in, while James Baldwin and Chris Jacobs also went deep.  The rehabbing Juan Uribe also got into the action as he was 2 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI's.  Starter Fabio Martinez had some trouble as he lasted just 2.1 innings and gave up 6 runs, but Geoff Brown stepped in with solid relief to pick up the win.

LoA – Off day

Rookie Ogden – The Raptors evened their record at 4 with a 5 - 3 win over the Owlz (Angels) on Monday.  Starter Jose De Leon pitched an outstanding game as he allowed just 5 hits over 7 innings, striking out 12.  Lenix Osuna gave up a couple of runs in the 9th but his club was still able to hold on for the win.  The offense managed just 6 hits in this game, with 2 of them coming from Ivan Vela who drove in a pair.  Justin Chigbogu, Colin Hering, and Jimmy Allen all doubled.

Rookie Arizona – The Arizona Dodger edged the Reds 4 to 3 for their second win of the season.  Dodger starter Francisco Martinez was solid on the mound as he allowed just 3 hits and 1 run over 5 frames while striking out 6.  Takumi Numata piggy backed with 4 strong innings of relief as he also punched out 6 and picked up the save.  At the dish Mikel Whiting was 3 for 4 with a run scored while Lucas Tirado went 2 for 4 with a couple of doubles.

DSL – The Dominican Dodgers blanked the Astros 4 to 0 on Monday.  On a day of strong pitching performances Dennys Chica should be added to the list as he tossed 5 scoreless innings, allowing just 3 hits and striking out 6.  Angel German and Gregor Mora completed the shutout with solid relief.  At the plate Felix Nunez drove in 2 runs while Manuel Peguero and Johan Mieses both doubled for the club's only extra base hits.

Coming upZach Lee and the Isotopes highlight Tuesday's action as they play an early 10:05 am PST game, then the rest of the clubs (except for the Arizona Dodgers) follow later in the day.  Nick Struck takes the mound for the Lookouts, Jharel Cotton gets the call for the Quakes, Victor Arano toes the rubber for the Loons, and Bernardo Reyes makes the start for the Raptors.
