LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers made a few more roster moves prior to Tuesday night's game against the Giants, calling up newly acquired outfielder Justin Ruggiano and pitcher Joe Wieland as well.
Ruggiano, acquired from the Mariners for a player to be named later or cash considerations on Friday night, starts in left field against the left-handed Madison Bumgarner, batting sixth. Ruggiano was originally drafted by the Dodgers in 2004.
"I'm really excited, I was drafted by this team," Ruggiano said. "To come full circle and be back with this team is exciting to me."
Ruggiano will be the 53rd player to appear in a game with the Dodgers this season, tying the franchise record set in 1944 and tied in 1998.
To make room on the 40-man roster for Ruggiano, wearing No. 27, the Dodgers also recalled pitcher Josh Ravin and placed him on the 60-day disabled list with a left hernia.
Ravin has been on the disabled list in Triple-A, having last pitched for Oklahoma City on July 30.
For getting promoted to the majors and placed on the DL, Ravin will earn 34 days of major league service time and get paid a pro-rated share of the major league minimum of $507,500, or roughly $92,530.
Well, my season is officially over. Thank you everyone for all the support throughout this season! I'm Looking forward!

Both Bumgarner and Zack Greinke are batting eighth on Tuesday, the first time ever in a Dodgers-Giants game that both pitchers are batting eighth.
"Just the matchup," manager Don Mattingly said. "Zack's really good. Looking at our personnel and the way we're set up, it seemed like the right thing for our lineup."
Mattingly said he didn't think batting ninth, behind the pitcher would affect Joc Pederson 's confidence.
"The other side of it, he doesn't have the pitcher hitting behind him," Mattingly said.
Chase Utley gets a day off as well against Bumgarner, as do Carl Crawford and Andre Ethier, with all right-handed pitchers the rest of the week lined up to face the Dodgers.
Wieland made one start this season for the Dodgers, allowing six runs on May 6 in Milwaukee. The 25-year old had a rough year in Triple-A, going 10-5 with a 4.59 ERA in 22 games, including 21 starts for Okahoma City.
But Wieland finished strong in the minors, lasting at least six innings in his last four starts, putting up a 2.33 ERA with 24 strikeouts against only two walks in 27 innings.
The Dodgers have 30 players on the active roster, including 16 pitchers.
San Francisco moves
The Giants acquired Alejandro De Aza from the Red Sox on Monday night, and activated him on Tuesday. He is batting sixth like Ruggiano, meaning both teams have their brand new outfield acquisitions playing left field and batting sixth.
On Monday night, the sixth spot featured dueling Crawfords.
San Francisco also activated Angel Pagan from the disabled list and is batting him leadoff. The Giants also recalled catcher Hector Sanchez and pitcher Cody Hall from Triple-A and selected the contract of infielder Nick Noonan from Triple-A as well.
Justin Maxwell was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for Noonan.
