Joc Pederson records the first two hits of his AFL career
The Solar Sox scored 10 runs on Saturday, but it wasn't enough as Mesa lost to the Saguaros 16 to 10. Despite the final score this game was actually over early on as Surprise plated 14 runs in the first two innings. Starter Jarred Cosart (Astros) gave up the first 7 runs, then relievers Tyler Clark (Tigers) and Alex Sogard (Astros) permitted the other 7 batters to cross the plate. By the time Eric Eadington hurled a scoreless frame in the 6th the game was well out of hand.
At the plate Joc Pederson finally got into the action as he singled twice in 5 at bat and plated a pair of runs. The outburst increased his batting average from .000 to .083. 2nd baseman Rafael Ynoa also recorded an RBI, and his single in the 3rd extended his hitting streak to 8 games.
Coming up: The AFL rests on Sunday, so the next Solar Sox game will be on Monday. We'll have a full Fall/Winter League update in Sunday's recap.
