The Desert Dogs kept their home record perfect on Wednesday by defeating the Rafters 8 to 6. Salt River scored first with a couple of runs in the 4th, but Glendale answered back with 5 unanswered scores to take the lead for good. Dodger catching prospect Pratt Maynard, who had a RBI groundout early in the game, also provided the Desert Dogs with some insurance runs (which they would eventually need) in the 6th when he crushed a 2-run homer. That long ball was just one of three extra base hits for Glendale, and only two batters had multi-hit games. One of those was Brian Cavazos-Galvez who didn't start the contest, but still managed to go 2 for 3 with a RBI to increase his average to .467.
On the mound starter Andrew Heaney (Marlins) didn't quite have his best stuff as he allowed 4 hits and 2 runs over 3.2 frames, then Drew Hayes (Reds) followed in relief and recorded the win despite tossing just 1 inning. The only pitcher affiliated with the Dodgers to throw in this game was the lefty Mike Thomas, and unfortunately he had a rough outing. Thomas gave up 2 runs on 3 hits, one those being a homer, in his second outing of the season, yet he still managed to record a hold. Nick Wittgren (Marlins) eventually collected the save with a perfect 9th.
