2013 Dodger draft profiles: OF James Lynch, 36th round

The 36th selection of the Dodgers was James Lynch, an outfielder from Glendale Community College in Arizona

Summary: 36th round pick James Lynch was drafted out of Glendale Community College in Arizona as an outfielder. Lynch is listed at 6'2", 195 pounds and is 21 years old

Background information: This was the second time the Dodgers picked Lynch as he was also selected by Los Angeles out of high school in the 45th round of the 2011 draft. He obviously didn't sign back then and instead chose to attended Glendale Community College, which is just a stone's throw away from Camelback Ranch. I'm slightly confused on his background, however, because even though he was drafted in 2011, according to one article I found it said that Lynch "helped lead his high school team to two New England Championships in 2010 and 2012, including an undefeated 34-0 in 2012." So I'm not sure how he was still playing high school ball in 2012 after getting drafted in 2011. Also, he would have already been 20 years old in 2012.

Scouting report: I don't have a whole lot of information here, but Lynch has been described as a speedy outfielder and he did lead his team with 14 stolen bases in 2013 to go along with two triples. James hit .303 last season with just one homer, so power isn't really his game. The draft data base has him listed as a right fielder, so I'm guess his arm is at least halfway decent. Finally I did find one video of him playing Glendale Community College:

Signing Status: Lynch has yet to sign, and as a 36th round pick with college eligibility remaining he may reject the Dodgers for the second time. That being said he is already 21 years old so he may want to get his professional career started. My gut tells me that he has about a 60% chance of signing.
