2013 Dodger draft profiles: RHP Rob Rogers, 32nd round

Mike Stobe

The 32nd selection of the Dodgers was Rob Rogers, a right handed pitcher from Keystone College in Pennsylvania

Summary: 32nd round pick Rob Rogers, drafted out of Keystone College in Pennsylvania as a right handed pitcher, is listed at 5'11" and 205 pounds. Rob is 22 years old and will turn 23 in October.

Background information: Rogers is from Islip, New York which is where he also went to high school. After graduating he decided to attend Division III school Keystone College in Pennsylvania where he became one of the best pitchers in school history. His career mark of 245 strikeouts are a school record, and his career 1.72 ERA is 4th best in the program's history. He also had a Division III best 114 strikeouts in 2013, which earned him a spot on the 2013 Division III All-American Team.

Scouting report: Rob had remarkable stats throughout his college career, but before we get too excited about him it should be noted that Keystone appears to play in a very pitcher friendly league. While Rob's 1.34 ERA over 101 innings in 2013 is outstanding, the Keystone pitching staff as a whole had an ERA of 1.96 which makes his mark seen a little less impressive. Even still Rogers did strike out over a batter per inning and held opposing batters to a .190 average, so he must have decent stuff. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything on how hard he throws or what type of pitches he has.

Signing Status: Rogers hasn't signed with the Dodgers yet, but as a college senior he doesn't have many options so he should be inking a deal soon. Once he does sign he's a perfect candidate to add to the Ogden Raptors roster, although they'll probably limit his innings since he already had a heavy college workload this year.
