Peter Moylan was once part of a formidable Braves bullpen. But now, after two years lost to surgeries, can Moylan find his way into the Dodgers relief staff?

The right-hander had a 3.43 ERA in 36 games in relief for the Rangers in 2012.

The 34-year old right-hander has been limited to 21 games pitched in the last two seasons combined due to back and shoulder surgeries.

The 28-year old will compete with four others at Camelback Ranch in spring training for the Dodgers' backup catcher spot.

The two catchers will compete with fellow non-roster invitee Wilkin Castillo and Dodgers minor leaguer Tim Federowicz for the major league backup catching job in spring training.

The utility man was also a non-roster invitee to Dodgers camp in spring training in 2010.

The Dodgers signed five more players to minor league contracts, including two with links to not-so-great moments in team history.

McPherson, once rated the No. 12 prospect in all of baseball, has hit 209 home runs in his minor league career.

The outfielder, under contract for $1.15 million for 2013, was designated for assignment on Aug. 6 and is not on the 40-man roster.
