Super Bowl Open Thread
While we are on the threshold of starting spring training, apparently the NFL has something going on today in which Madonna is involved.
A brief TBLA Editorial
If the members want to complain about Eric sometimes being dismissive of differing opinions, of being too smart, too hard working, too full of vital Dodger information, arrogant with his knowledge to the point of annoyance, or Phil of being a hack of a writer with an insensitive disposition, of being short, or Brandon being too good at what he does, or David of simply being the constant pleasant presence who goes out of his way to respond in an optimistic manner, or Chad and Michael providing us with dazzling content, so be it.
Just do not question the integrity of the opinions simply because they do not mesh with your own.

West Hills Little Leaguers doing their part to fight Cancer
On March 12th the Daily News ran a front page article in the sports section about a boy who was doing what he could to raise money for the City of Hope via his bat. The cool part is that two of these fourth graders, the boy in the middle, and the one to the left are being taught by my wife at Woodlake Elementary School.
These boys have taken this simple concept and created a program appropriately called Love of the Game.
For more information on getting involved in Love of the Game, go to the nonprofit organization's website, www.loveofthegamecorp.org.
Readers of TBLA should be able to relate to that name, no matter our differences we all ended up at TBLA because of our "love of the game".
Many of us talk the talk but these kids are walking the talk, and my hat is off to them. The fight against cancer has been waged for an eternity with just about everyone having experienced the damage cancer does to those it attacks, and to those in the proximity of it's blast. I have no idea if things are better or worse, but what I do know is that as long as children can still feel empathy for others, we are winning.

Dodger fans all over the world
Nate Silverblatt asked us if any Dodger fans are from Houston.
Today would be a good forum for frequent posters - lurkers to let us know where they hail from. Use the thread to make it happen. For example I'm from West Fernando Valley, anyone else from that area do a reply.
I know we have one commentator from France, I'd hope we have some folks deployed reading us. If so let us know.
Update:
As of 02:30 and 400 comments we are making a dent in the 50 states.

National Championship Game Thread
Oregon vs. Auburn for the BCS National Championship.
It's hard to believe it was just yesterday that Oregon was facing Oregon State in the Civil War Game. And by yesterday, I mean approximately six weeks ago.
Prediction:
Tough one to call. Two similar high powered offenses that haven't played in over a month. Oregon appeared to close the year struggling with unimpressive wins over Oregon State and Cal as opposed to Auburn who annihilated South Carolina in the SEC title game. This might be important if there was one week to prepare as opposed to six. Chip Kelly has been a master at making halftime adjustments, so I think he can coach his way to a victory with so much time to prepare.
Oregon by 10.

USA versus Ghana Game Thread
With the first elimination game being on a Saturday, I felt a dedicated game thread on the front page was appropriate. These past few days after the Algeria win have been fantastic, let's see if the Americans can keep going.
Clips Nation Night at Staples Center! Saturday, April 10th
Attention Clipper fans (and yes Laker fans I suppose) the Clippers have established a Clipsnation night with our SBNation Clipper blog. I know there are quite a few of my fellow Clipper fans out there, and there was a bit of interest in a True Blue LA Clipper night earlier this year. The event should be a lot of fun, as your purchase will not only provide for tickets to the game, it will also be an oppurtunity to meet other fans in a private reception room prior to the game. So, if you are interested in seeing the 4 Clippers actually under contract next year (and a bunch of oon to be free agents) sign up for this event.
Here's what you need to know via the ClipsNation post:
You can use this link to buy tickets online directly through Ticketmaster - use code 'clippers'. There are three price levels, all with discounts of at least 50%:
- $35 for loge 100 ends (regularly $75),
- $34 for the 200 level (regularly $68), and
- $20 for the Upper Center (regularly $45).
For season ticket holders who want to attend, email mbaker@clippers.com with your season ticket holder information in order to get access to the event. Your names will be placed on the list at the check-in table.
On April 10th, everything starts at 5:00 PM. Check -in at Star Plaza and tell them that you're there for Clips Nation night.
I plan on being there with some of my fellow Clipper fans, I and hope to see some of my fellow Dodger fans at the event.
Greatest Laker ever?
Kobe is now the greatest scorer in Laker history, a history loaded with some of the greatest basketball players in the history of the game. Has he done enough to now be considered the greatest Laker of all time?
