The Dodgers don't pick in today's MLB Draft (3pm, MLB Network) until the 36th pick. The only other time in history they have had the #36 pick, they picked Michael Moore (no, not the filmmaker) out of UCLA in 1992.
As the Dodgers go bowling for prospects, they will be hard pressed to find a player to match the exploits of #36 picks Johnny Bench (1965, Reds) or recent 300-game-winner Randy Johnson (1985, Expos).
Mark Hulet of Fangraphs wrote an interesting review of the Dodgers 2006-2008 draft and looked at their organizational needs and strengths for the 2009 draft. Mark agrees with the popular opinion that the 2008 draft should help restock the system although he does make the mistake of calling Josh Lindblom's start to the season slow. I posted my thoughts in the comments there.
