Celebrate the 1988 Dodgers Championship

Almost every baseball fan has seen the video of an injured Gibby rounding the bases and pumping his fist after hitting a homer to win Game 1 of the 1988 World Series. It was the signature moment in the Dodgers’ improbable run to a championship.

In Hitting We Trust

You know I haven't really scouted what was available, but it shocks me that we weren't able to find a starting pitcher who would have been an upgrade from Wolf on down for the playoffs.  ...

Jake Peavy Dealt to the White Sox Again?

Jon Heyman tweets that Jake Peavy has been traded to the White Sox again for minor leaguers. The trade is still awaiting Peavy's approval. Update 4:32 ET: Peavy has been traded for Clayton Richard, Aaron Poreda, Dexter Carter, and Adam Russell according to Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse. Update 4:47 ET: Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com report that Peavy has approved the trade and will join the White Sox. Peavy's agent Barry Axelrod said: "I think Jake just got to the breaking point. One team wanted him bad enough, and the other team wanted to get rid of him."

Minor Trades

The Red Sox have traded Adam Laroche to the Braves for Casey Kotchman. The Reds have traded Jerry Hairston Jr. to the Yankees. And the Nationals traded former Dodger Joe Beimel to the Rockies. Am I the only one who doesn't want to see Beimel on a division rival? The Reds have traded for Blue Jays third basmen Scott Rolen pending his approval. The Reds reportedly sent Edwin Encarnacion and Yonder Alonso to the Jays. Seems like a good haul. Nick Johnson has been traded to the Marlins for Double-A pitcher Aaron Thompson.

Dodgers Making Push for Gonzalez, Bell?

From Ken Rosenthal so take it with a grain of salt, but the Dodgers are apparantly "making runs" at both Adrian Gonzalez and Heath Bell. I don't even want to think about what kind of package it would take to acquire both of them, but our team would be.... amazing if we did.

Dodgers Trade Claudio Vargas To Brewers For Vinny Rottino
