Brett Tomko, meet the New San Diego Padres. They hit the ball. They score in bunches. They win games. They're not in last place.
I know it's too early to tell (remember last year?), but the team faces an uphill battle, with four teams of similar quality in front of them. It could be a long year. Still, there are nice stories. Jason Repko has been a joy to watch and seems like a decent guy. Nothing wrong with that. And sure, the .900 -plus OPS may not last, but it has been a nice counterbalance to the struggles of Furcal and Kent. The kids at Vegas are like a birthday present waiting for us. Well, maybe a Christmas present. Anyway, I'm taking my kids to the park on Saturday night, regadless. We may have to leave early due to their being 1 and 2 years old. I hope we don't give Dodger fans a bad reputation.
But first, we have unfinished business with the Padres. Sorry, the New Padres. This is the rubber match for the season series thus far.
