Man, that was an exhausting game last night and I was only watching. The Dodgers dropped 2-1/2 games back with a heartbreaking 14 inning loss to the Cards on a Pujols home run. The bullpen gave up two home runs keeping Chad Billingsley from his first win. Billingsley pitched his way into and out of 3 bases loaded jams leaving the game after 5 innings leading 2-0.
Nomar extended his hitting streak with his home run but dropped into second in batting average.
Former Dodger pitcher Jeff Weaver entered the game as a pinch hitter so he has batting stats with the Cards before he has pitching stats.
Odalis Perez sounded off to the press concerning his status after the game. Saying "I've been treated like trash." Perez said he doesn't know why he is in the bullpen. Apparently the 8.53 ERA in his starts doesn't give him a clue. The fact that he had no takers during his free agent year should tell him that the league is less than impressed. Hopefully they can package him in a trade, though his performance and attitude don't make him very marketable.
Izturis is making some nice plays at third base. I'm sure he isn't happy with the move but it is good to see him putting full effort into his play.
Ricky Ledee is ready to come off the DL but the question is who to move to get him on the roster. Little wants his left handed bat off the bench. Word has it the Dodgers are considering putting Alomar on the DL to make room.
Let's hope Lowe can get his act together and have a good outing and keep the bullpen out of the game.
Go Blue.
