Minor League Update 4/7/2008

Vegas wins 5- 4 with a run in the bottom of the 9th. John Lindsey extended his hitting streak with a double. Justin Orenduffs 1st AAA start didn't even last 3 innings as he allowed 7 baserunners, 4 of them via the base on balls. Ex-Twin Terry Tiffee collected 3 more hits and his average now sits at a nifty .500. Greg Miller threw another solid one inning of relief work with 2 punchouts.

Suns get pounded 12 - 4 as inexplicable 40 man roster pitcher Mario Alveraz gets rocked in his 1st AA start. Things didn't get any better when Corey Wade took the mound. Between them they gave up 10 runs in 6 innings. Lucas May picked up 3 walks on the offensive side. We know he has power, so the walks were nice.

Inland Empire also has free baseball as they are tied in the 10th.[game suspended after 15] Josh Wall started and did okay. The best pitching of the night was done by 25 year old Brent Leach who pitched 3 shutout innings with 4 strikeouts. Leach missed most of last season was a strange ailment so it was nice to see him back on the mound. The 66er's were down 3 - 0 in the bottom of the 9th when Matt Berezay hit a bases loaded double to tie the game.

Great Lakes was shellacked 11 - 1 when Daigoro Rondon also got rocked in his first A ball start. Rondon is the guy who put up incredible control numbers in the rookie league but so far in A ball he's looked anything but incredible. The offense was completely shut down.
