After the 2007 season Alberto Bastardo was on the fringe of the Dodger prospect map but his subsequent 2008 season washed him away from memory. Already off to a great start in 2009 he took it a step further in his 3rd start with seven shutout innings. The 25 year old pitcher from Venezuela now sports 19 K's in 17 innings while only walking two with eleven hits allowed. Is their gold in those Venezuela arms? Garate, Belisario, and now Bastardo have all been late bloomers. If they keep it up it might be worth a story or two.
