Dodgers Hope 13 Is A Lucky Number

The Dodgers have purchased the contract of Jeff Weaver, and reinstated Cory Wade from the disabled list, per Jon Weisman of Dodger Thoughts. In addition to sending Scott Elbert to Chattanooga, another roster spot was created by optioning Blake DeWitt to Albuquerque.

That means the Dodgers begin their season-long 11-game homestand with 13 pitchers on their 25-man roster. One of those pitchers -- James McDonald -- might be fighting for his spot in the starting rotation when he takes the mound this evening for his fourth major league start. If one wants to find positivity from McDonald's poor start, he has gone from 2.1 innings to 4.1 to 5. Perhaps a seven-inning outing against the 2nd place Padres is in the cards.
