Peavy Rejects Trade to the White Sox

According to Scott Merkin and Corey Brock of MLB.com:

The Padres ace used his no-trade clause to block a potential trade that would have sent the All-Star right-hander to the White Sox in a 4-for-1 deal, which reportedly included Chicago's top pitching prospects in Aaron Poreda and Clayton Richard.

Peavy made this announcement public through a statement prior to San Diego's game on Thursday night.

"Right now, this is the best place for me and my family," Peavy said.

So it looks like Peavy will not be moved for awhile at least. He said he really wants to play in the NL, which may or may not be a tool used to get him more money when he is traded. I don't think that was a very good package that the Padres were getting in return for Peavy, so I was kind of hoping he would be traded. Of course that's not even mentioning that fact that he owns us and now it's possible that he could be traded to one of our NL contenders like the Cubs or Mets. And it sounds like there is no way he is going to be a Dodger any time soon.
