Dodgers Welcome Los Angeles Angels To Los Angeles

New, comments

The Dodgers and Angels open their annual interleague affair tonight, with a 7:10pm game on KCAL (or Fox Sports West if you prefer the Angel broadcast), as the Los Angeles Angels play their first game in Los Angeles for 2009.

Clayton Kershaw, fresh off his near no-hitter in Florida, will take the mound tonight. He has never faced the Angels.

This will be Jered Weaver's fifth career start against the Dodgers. Jeff's little brother is 3-1 with a 1.54 ERA, and the only game he lost was one last year in which he (and Jose Arredondo) didn't give up a hit!

The Angels bullpen has been struggling (5.82 ERA so far), but it could have been worse. Per the game notes, the Angels' pen has only given up 11 runs in their last 40 innings for a 2.48 ERA. Those 40 innings have only come in ten games, so perhaps their bullpen is fatigued.

Outfielder Jamie Hoffmann was called up from Albuquerque to replace the injured Xaiver Paul, who was placed on the disabled list with "a skin infection on his left leg."

Thanks to old friend Andrew Grant for passing along that the player to be named later from the Delwyn Young trade is Eric Krebs, a 24-year old RHP in AA.

We discovered something today that is pretty amazing: the clubs make their game notes available -- for free -- before every game. We will add links to each team's notes with each game thread. Here are tonight's notes:
