In his 14th try, Bert Blyleven was elected to the Hall of Fame today. Blyleven won 287 games, and is fifth all-time in strikeouts (3,701) and ninth all-time with 60 shutouts. Blyleven got 79.7% of the vote.
Joining Blyleven is Roberto Alomar, who gets in on his second try. Alomar, a 12-time All-Star, and winner of 10 Gold Gloves, got a whopping 90% of the vote. Alomar is the spitting image of a Hall of Famer.
Congratulations to both.
