Jamey Carroll, who has battled a bruised finger for two weeks or so, yesterday saw his first Cactus League action since March 12, striking out as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning. Today, Carroll is back in the starting lineup, batting eighth and playing shortstop as the Dodgers host the Rockies at Camelback Ranch.
Hiroki Kuroda will start for the Dodgers, making his fifth start of the spring. The other scheduled pitchers for the Dodgers are Jonathan Broxton, Matt Guerrier, Mike MacDougal, and Ramon Troncoso.
Jhoulys Chacin starts for the Rockies. Old friend Eric Stults is also on the list of scheduled pitchers for Colorado, along with Rafael Betancourt, Matt Reynolds, Eric Stults, Rex Brothers, and John Maine.
Dioner Navarro was originally in the Dodgers lineup, batting sixth and catching, but he was scratched. He felt something in his right side during batting practice, per Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times. Navarro will undergo an MRI.
Navarro was replaced in the lineup by Hector Gimenez. It is the first game behind the plate for Gimenez since March 10.
