An Early Look At OBP

This tweet by DodgerTalk co-host Joe Block earlier today got me thinking:

Other #Dodgers hitters not named Ethier or Kemp are only half as good (so far): Kemp/Ethier OBP .511; rest of team: .256

I wonder how bad it would look if Jamey Carroll (.417 OBP) was lumped in with the haves instead of the have-nots. Well, it looks really bad. Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier, and Carroll have combined for a .484 OBP while the rest of the team has a .239 OBP (.247 OBP for the non-pitchers).

Here are the Dodger on-base percentages for all non-pitchers this season:

Dodger Position Players OBP
Hitter PA OBP
Kemp 45 .578
Blake 15 .500
Ellis 6 .500
Ethier 47 .447
Carroll 37 .417
Paul 9 .333
Gwynn 27 .296
Barajas 36 .250
Furcal 28 .250
Uribe 37 .216
Thames 15 .200
Loney 46 .196
Miles 22 .190
Gimenez 8 .143
DeJesus 7 .125
Hoffmann 1 .000
