In a move that has been foretold since December 14, the day Dioner Navarro was signed, the Dodgers have decided that Navarro is their backup catcher. Navarro, who began the season on the disabled list with a strained oblique, has been activated for tonight's game, the opener of a three-game series in Miami against the Marlins. Navarro had two hits and three walks in five games with Double A Chattanooga on a rehab assignment.
To make room for Navarro, A.J. Ellis was optioned to Triple A Albuquerque.
Lineups
Juan Uribe, who missed two games in Chicago with tightness in his left thigh, is out of the lineup again tonight. That, coupled with Casey Blake getting a day off for the first time in eight days, means that Ivan DeJesus gets a rare start. DeJesus, who started two games against the Giants in the first weekend of the season, had not yet started during his second stint with the club, which began on April 12. DeJesus hasn't even batted during a game since one week ago tonight.
