Noel Noel surps the slurpee of Dodger prospectdom -Dodger Minor League Update for 7-11

No mention of how Trayvon did in the AAA Home run derby but this story is interesting in that the finals were a AAA outfielder from the Braves and a 17 year year old high schooler who got too use his aluminum bat.

Representing the Pacific Coast League and Spanish Fork High School, Porter and his aluminum bat put on a show with 14 home runs at the Bees' Spring Mobile Park. He launched one ball clear over the batter's eye in dead center, a shot estimated at 545 feet.

Minor League Player of the Day – While Matt Kemp was doing what Dodgers do in the home run derby (failing), 19 Year Old Noel Cuevas was busy showing him how it is done, easily taking the MLPOTD by  blasting two home runs, giving him twelve extra base hits in only 57 at bats for the Raptors. Could the 19 year old Puerto Rican be giving Jonathan Garcia a run for best teen-age Puerto Rican in the Dodger system?  Put them both on the Loons and lets find out.

Only Games Scheduled

LoA –Garret Gould had his worst outing of the year giving up nine hits / five runs in only four innings of work as the Loons were pounded 8 - 1. Nothing good came of this game.

Rookie Ogden – The Raptors put the hurt on their opponents with a 13 - 2 thrashing behind the big bat of  player of the day Noel Cuevas. Helping out Cuevas was Joc Pederson who slugged  his 2nd home run, Andy Edge who belted his sixth, and Scott Schebler with two more hits as he continues to tear it up in July. On the mound, Brandon favorite, Brandon Martinez pitched four hit ball over six innings.

Rookie Arizona – Dodgers lose 7 - 2. Nothing of interest.
