Angelo Songco wins player of the day with his two home runs. Soncgo is piling up the extra base hits with 29 doubles, two triples, and sixteen home runs.
Pacific Coast League – Isotopes lose two as offense goes awol. In game one they were shutout 5-0, Gordon had his multi hit streak ended, Sands was held hitless, Trayvon had a single. Game two found them losing 4 - 2, DeJesus slugged a home run. Sands was again held hitless. He has not taken the news of Juan Rivera's arrival well.
Southern League – Postponed
California League - Quakes win 5 – 4 behind two, two run home runs by Songco. 21 year old Puerto Rican native Andres Santiago went six wild innings giving up five walks but only one run on one hit. Logan Bawcom made his Californnia League debut a stylish one with four punchouts for his first save. Bawcom started out this year setting up for phenom Tolleson for the Loons and was doing an okay job. Once Tolleson was promoted Bawcom took over the closer role and went to town. In June he pitched in 11 games, 13 innings, gave up six hits, one run, while recording only two walks against 16 strike outs. In July he is unscored upon and has not walked a soul so far. Another relief pitcher from Texas, where they must grow them on a pitching tree that Logan White picks from whenever he feels the need for an arm.
MidWest League – Loons win 3 – 1 behind Greg Wilborn who struck out 10 in only five innings. Montgomery picked up the win in relief with three shutout innings. The 25 year old 6’6 Cal State Dominguez Hills grad is having a solid year as a multi inning setup man.
Pioneeer League – Raptors played a double bill losing the first game in a slugfest 9 – 7. Our 21 year old Cuban Raydel Sanchez was lit up for seven earned runs. Joc Pederson lead the offense with three hits including his third home run.
The Raptors prevailed in the second game 3 – 2 but nothing of note happened.
Arizona Rookie League –Dodger lost 4 – 1
