Even though it was a slow day with just 3 Dodger minor league games, the rookie leagues had some noteworthy offensive performances as 7 different players had at least 3 hits on the night and 2 players had 6 RBI's.
Minor League Player of the Day – Alexis Aguilar - 4 for 6, 1 HR, 2 Runs, 6 RBI's. While Aguilar played 2nd base on Tuesday, he can actually play all over the infield and throughout his career has been mostly a shortstop. He just recently turned 20 years old and could be a bit of a sleeper if he continues to hit, which hasn't been a problem thus far in 2011 as he has a .347 and a .946 OPS through 72 at bats for the Raptors.
AAA – The Isotopes lost their 4th straight home game on Tuesday as Albuquerque gave up 9 unanswered runs to Oklahoma City and got clawed by the RedHawks (Astros) 9 to 5. The evening started off nicely enough for Tope fans as the home team scored 5 runs through 4 innings, highlighted by Trayvon Robinson's 25th bomb of the season. However starter Tim Sexton eventually unraveled, giving up 6 runs on 12 hits in 6 innings, and his bullpen didn't do so well either as both Ramon Troncoso and Jon Link allowed runs in relief. In addition to Robinson's homer and 3 RBI's, the story of the night was again Russ Mitchell who went 2 for 2 with a couple of walks and has now reached base in 9 straight at bats. Corey Smith also had a multi-hit night as he went 2 for 4, but Dee Gordon and Jerry Sands combined to go 0 for 7.

Rookie Ogden – There were a ton of notable performances for the Raptors on Tuesday night as they used a 21 hit attack to defeat the Mustangs (Reds) 13 to 5. Three different Ogden hitters with 4 hit-games, but the best night belonged to 2nd baseman Alexis Aguilar who went 4 for 6 with a homer and a Raptor season high 6 RBI's. His middle infield partner Charlie Mirabal was one of the other hitters to collect 4 base knocks (and he had 3 RBI's), while Matt Kirkland rounded out the group with a 4 for 5 effort. O'Koyea Dickson also had a solid game with a double and his 3rd homer to increase his OPS to 1.103 for the season. Not to be lost in all the offensive excitement is Joc Pederson's 4th multi-hit game in a row, even though both hits were "only" singles. On the mound, Rick Anton started and allowed just 3 hits over 3 shutout innings, then Yimi Garcia struck out 8 in 4 frames while giving up a couple of runs. Tall Chris Handke tossed the 9th and has finally seemed to find his groove as he struck out the side in a hitless inning.
Rookie Arizona – The Arizona Dodgers crushed the Reds 13 to 3 on Tuesday in another game that featured several outstanding performances. The contest really got out of hand in the 9th when catcher Chris O'Brien muscled a grand slam out of the park for his 3rd hit and 6th RBI of the night. 2011 19th round pick Jesus Valdez also hit a homer, a 2-run shot, while Ronny Lugo went 4 for 5 with a couple of doubles and a RBI. The highlights didn't stop there as recently signed Justin Boudreaux went 3 for 5 and fell a homer short of the cycle and Tae-Hyeok Nam had 3 hits himself. Even the Dodger pitching was solid as starter Jose Dominguez struck out 6 over 5 shutout innings while allowing just 2 hits. Not a bad overall night.
