Jon Garland will undergo shoulder surgery on Monday, and is expected to miss six months.

Sorry for the brevity today, but here's a quick summary of the news before tonight's Dodgers game with the Mets:

  • Jon Garland is going to have shoulder surgery Monday and is expected to be out six months. In other words, he is done for the season.
  • Andre Ethier is sick, and out of the lineup tonight. Don Mattingly said Ethier may be available to pinch hit at some point tonight.
  • Aaron Miles is batting third tonight
  • Matt Kemp will be in the Home Run Derby next Monday in Phoenix. Dodgers bullpen catcher Rob Flippo will pitch to Kemp.
  • A scoring change was made from Friday night in Anaheim, giving Dee Gordon a steal of third base in the seventh inning, in addition to his steals of second base and home in the same inning.
