The year of the disabled list continued for the Dodgers, with Rubby De La Rosa today becoming the 15th Dodger to be placed on the disabled list. De La Rosa was placed on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation, and John Ely has been recalled to take his place.
Whether intentionally or not, this move will effectively limit De La Rosa's odometer this year. Last year, De La Rosa threw 110 1/3 innings between Class A Great Lakes and Double A Chattanooga. This year, Rubby is at 100 2/3 combined innings, including four frames yesterday which required 103 pitches.
The 15 disabled Dodgers have made a combined 23 trips to the DL this season.
Ely, who has had two previous stints this season with the Dodgers, last pitched on Wednesday in Omaha.
