Dodgers 8/9/11 Minor League Report - Hoffmann's Perfect Day Lead's Isotopes 24-Hit Attack

The Isotopes' offense made a lot of noise on Tuesday, although Angelo Songco also had a solid day at the dish.

Minor League Player of the DayJamie Hoffmann - 5 for 5, 2 HR's, 5 RBI's, 1 BB, 3 Runs.  Hoffmann has been hot as of late and 12 hits over his last 4 games.  His 2 bombs bring his season total to 18, and his OPS has increased to .868 for the season.

AAA – The Isotopes accumulated 24 hits on Tuesday as Albuquerque defeated Salt Lake (Angels) 19 to 6Jamie Hoffmann led the way by going a perfect 5 for 5, and connecting on two homers while collecting 5 RBI's.  Ivan De Jesus had a great game as well as he had 4 hits and knocked in 6 runs with a bomb and 3 singles.  Justin Sellers also took one deep and fell a double shy of the cycle, while Jerry Sands drove in 4 runs with a two-bagger and his 21st jack of the season.  Tim Federowicz and Joe Becker rounded out the offensive attack with 3 hits apiece.  Starter Mike Parisi picked up the win despite allowing 5 runs in 7 innings, while Ramon Troncoso and Roman Colon finished off the win with a couple of innings of solid relief.

AA – Jacksonville (Marlins) used a big first inning to defeat the Lookouts 8 - 4.  Chattanooga starter Allen Webster gave up 9 hits and 7 runs in just 3 innings to take his 2nd Southern league loss of the year.  Javy Solano gave up a run in relief, while Ethan Martin tossed a perfect 8th and struck out two.  None of the Chattanooga hitters had more than 1 hit, and Travis Denker's homer was the only big hit of the game.

HiA - The Quakes got outdid on Tuesday as they lost to the Ports (A's) 5 to 1Angelo Songco went 3 for 4 with a homer to extend his hitting streak to 7 games, but that was about it for the Rancho offense.  Andres Santiago allowed 7 hits and 5 runs over 4.2 innings, although Steve Smith and Josh Walter finished off the game with 3.1 hitless innings.

LoA – Starter Greg Wilborn struck out 9 over 5.2 innings, but the Loons still lost to the Whitecaps (Tigers) 4 to 3.  Wilborn's 9 K's came with 4 walks and 3 hits allowed over 5.2 innings, and Scott McGough actually picked up the loss by giving up his 1st earned run while in LoA.  Michael Pericht went 2 for 3 with a double to have another good game at the plate, while Leon Landry had another 2-hit contest.

Rookie Ogden – The Raptors came close to a win with a 5 run 8th, but that wasn't quite enough as Ogden lost to the Orem Owelz (Angels) 8 to 7Scott Woodward went 3 for 4 with a double and his 4th jack of the year, while Joc Pederson went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's.  Starter Brandon Martinez gave up 5 runs in 5.1 innings, but only 3 of the scores were earned.  Several Raptors threw in relief, but Matt Shelton picked up the loss by blowing the save and giving up a couple of runs in the 9th.

Rookie Arizona – The Arizona Dodgers allowed just 3 hits as they defeated the Angels 4 to 2.  Starter Robert Boothe finally had a good game as he tossed 3 perfect innings, and Robert Charma picked up the win with 2 perfect innings of relief.  Daniel Tamares also had a good game out of the bullpen as he struck out all 3 batters he faced in the 7th inning to lower his ERA to 2.92.  At the plate, Alex Santana had the only multi-hit game as he went 2 for 3, while Joe Winker drove in 2 runs with a double.
