8/28/11 Dodger Minor League Report: Sea Hunt hit the ball

In case you missed it in the comments ex - TBLA editor Andrew Grant has come up with a new web site called Minor League Central to fill the void left when minor league splits stopped publishing. We will do a post on it later, but just wanted to make sure that those of you who don't read the comments were aware of this great new website

Minor League Player of the Day –Took me a while to find a player of the day but when I did he really earned it. The Raptors 20 year Jeff Hunt slugged two home runs, a two run shot, and a grand salami giving him six runs batted in for the day. Easily the greatest day of his professional career.

AAA - Isotopes final game ended at home ended with a loss as Ely was bashed for seven earned runs. They were down 7 - 0 but scored the final six runs to fall one run short. Gerry Sands hit a grand slam, his 28th home run of the year for the main highlight.

AA – Skaggs outdueled Withrow to pin a 2 - 1 loss on the Lookouts. Skaggs was the prize in the Haren deal as the Diamondbacks are building a nice minor league group of pitching prospects with Bauer, Skaggs, and Parker. Withrow actually matched Skaggs with five innings of zero earned runs but the one unearned run would do him in.

HiA – Songo blasted his 26th home run, Gallagher his 13th to lead Rancho to a 7 - 5 victory even with eventual winner Jon Redding giving up five runs in five innings. It was Reddings 11th victory of the year.

LoA –Loons fell 2 - 1 in 10 as the bats were silent once again. Gould got the start but only went three innings as that seems to be his max these days.

Rookie Ogden - Jeff Hunt led the 15 run assault with two home runs, Pederson jumped in with three hits including a home run. If anyone was going to give Hunt a run for POTD, it was his teammate 21 year old Derek Cone who struck out 12 in six innings of work with zero walks. Last three starts for Cone, 17 ip, six earned runs, 4 walks, 25 K's.
