Cindy Ellis, Dodger wife of the year

We already knew that Cindy Ellis, wife of Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis, was awesome. After all, she convinced her husband way back in 2005 that he was major league material, seven full years before he proved it on the field this season.

But what came after the season sealed the deal for Cindy Ellis as the top Dodgers significant other of the year, which was quite a feat considering Misty May-Treanor won a gold medal in the Olympics in London.

The Ellises welcomed their third child on Oct. 12 when daughter Audrey was born. But Audrey was delivered on Interstate 43 in Milwaukee, as A.J. and Cindy couldn't get to the hospital on time. Molly Knight of ESPN has more:

"And I’m thinking, this is 2012, not the 'Oregon Trail.' Of course we’re gonna make it," Ellis said. "So I’m calmly telling her we’re making it. I figured she was just panicking because she was in excruciating pain."

As Ellis merged on to the interstate, Cindy laid down the front passenger seat and turned to face out the rear window of the car. Writhing in pain, she got down on all fours and gripped the headrest.

"I kept telling him the pain was not normal, but in his mind it was," Cindy said. "Then a minute later I felt the head."

They were 18 miles from the hospital.

It might be the best 'borrowing the in-laws' car' story of all-time.
