The final SB Nation awards were announced Thursday, and the battles for player of the year were not particularly close. Buster Posey of the Giants and Mike Trout of the Angels easily took home the honors in the National and American Leagues.
Posey captured 26 of 35 first-place votes to win in the NL, easily outpacing second-place finisher Ryan Braun of the Brewers, who received seven first-place votes.
Clayton Kershaw finished 12th, and received one fourth-place vote. Kemp finished 21st, and the highest vote he received was one seventh-place vote.
Trout received 22 of 26 first-place votes in the AL, while Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers received four. Perhaps the AL triple crown winner can console himself later Thursday afternoon when he is named AL MVP by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. The BBWAA awards will be announced on MLB Network in an hour-long special beginning at 3 p.m. PT.
Craig Minami and I voted for the NL player of the year. Here are out ballots.
