After a whirlwind morning of reacting to, or in some cases hearing for the first time, the news of Magic Johnson being part of the Guggenheim Baseball Partners LLC, the pending ownership group of the franchise, the Dodgers traveled to Scottsdale to battle the San Francisco Giants.
I'll have more on the reactions later, once I find a spot in the press box with a plug. In the meantime, here are the details of today's game.
Nathan Eovaldi, the starter in waiting should Ted Lilly be unable to open the season, gets the call on the mound for the Dodgers. Lilly said this morning that his neck is improving, though the process has taken longer than expected to heal. The southpaw said he expects to pitch his scheduled bullpen session on Thursday, but manager Don Mattingly said he would wait for the go-ahead from trainer Sue Falsone before making such a proclamation.
Todd Coffey, Mike MacDougal, and Kenley Jansen are also scheduled to pitch for the Dodgers, and Wil Ledezma, Shawn Tolleson, and Juan Rodriguez are here as well from the minor league side. Rodriguez was acquired in the Trayvon Robinson trade last July 31.
Yusmeiro Petit starts on the mound for the Giants.
Starting Lineups
Jerry Hairston Jr., who threw from the outfield in workouts on Tuesday, starts in left field for the Dodgers today, his first time in the outfield this spring.
