The Dodgers have had three different outcomes in their three spring training games, and in their fourth game they face the Oakland A's in what is essentially the completion of a home-and-home series Thursday afternoon at Camelback Ranch.
Chris Capuano makes his first spring start as a Dodger, four days after pitching two innings in a simulated game on Sunday at Camelback Ranch. He will be followed on the mound by Stephen Fife, Matt Guerrier, Todd Coffey, Mike MacDougal, and John Grabow.
Pitchers Brent Leach, back with the Dodgers on a minor league deal and today wearing number 96, and Javier Solano, wearing number 91, will suit up for the Dodgers in today's game.
Jarrod Parker, the linchpin of the the return from the Arizona Diamondbacks in the Trevor Cahill trade, makes his second Cactus League appearance for Oakland. Parker struck out four of the seven batters he faced on Saturday against Seattle, and the only baserunner reached base via error.
Scheduled to pitch for the A's today after Parker are Joey Devine, Sean Doolittle, Pedro Figueroa, and Jordan Norberto.
Rice Is In It To Win It!
Oh yeah, non-roster invitee Scott Rice won the Dodgers Idol competition in the clubhouse this morning, a karaoke competition organized this year by James Loney, among rookies or players in their first year in camp. The judges were Todd Coffey, Tommy Lasorda, and assistant athletic trainer Nancy Patterson.
Rice reportedly sang his own song, with lyrics dedicated to Kenley Jansen, in lieu of an existing song. "[Scott] could record that thing that he did," Mattingly said, then after waiting a beat, "Maybe take some of the language out."
