The Dodgers had been fortunate to win a couple of games where they let big leads get away. Tonight they were not as lucky as Javy Guerra could not get George Kottaras out when he got ahead in the count and instead he hit what look like a flat breaking ball to the gap in right center field. Both runners scored on the play and the Brewers won the game 5-4.
Chad Billingsley had a shaky second inning but pitched well again in his third start, allowing two runs in six innings with only 5 hits, no walks and two strikeouts. Matt Guerrier did not have an efficient outing as he allowed the go-ahead run in the 7th.
Andre Etheir continued his under-radar outstanding start by coming up with a two-out two-run home run off former Angel and Met closer K-Rod (Francisco Rodriguez) and Kenley Jansen boosted his bid for moving up to the closer role by striking out 2 in his perfect inning.
The Dodgers probably ran themselves out at least one run when Dee Gordon was picked off in the first inning. Matt Kemp doubled to center later on in that inning.
Also James Loney and Juan Rivera had big hits in the loss.
The Dodgers will try to pick up a win tomorrow with Chris Capuano going against Zack Greinke in a 5:10 P.M. start.
Home Runs: Andre Ethier (4), Mat Gamel (1)
