For a team that plays so many one-run games, the Dodgers were bound to lose a few. Martin Prado's RBI triple in the top of the ninth off Javy Guerra gave the Atlanta Braves a 4-3 win at Dodger Stadium. The win snapped an eight-game home winning streak for the Dodgers, dating back to last season.
The Dodgers are now 6-3 in one-run games this season.
The triple for Prado was just out of the reach of Matt Kemp's glove in center field, ending a rough night of near misses for Kemp. He was doubled off first base on a popout in the fourth inning, on a play he probably beat back to the bag but was in a bad position to begin with. Then in the sixth inning, as Dee Gordon scored the tying run on a throwing error at first base, Kemp was tagged out for making an attempt for second base.
Aaron Harang pitched scoreless ball into the fifth inning, when he allowed two runs, including a booming home run to right field off the bat of Chipper Jones, celebrating his 40th birthday today. For the second consecutive start, Harang ended up allowing three runs in six innings, only this time his team came out on the wrong end of a 4-3 score.
Up & Down For Rivera
Juan Rivera hit a ball into the loge section in left field in the first inning for among the rarest of home runs at Dodger Stadium. It was the first long ball of the season for Rivera, who became the fifth Dodger to hit a home run this season. Then in the third inning Rivera, playing first base, made a diving stop of a ground ball by Martin Prado.
But Rivera's night ended when he got his second hit, a single in the bottom of the sixth inning. Rivera slowed up considerably as he approached first base, and after consulting with trainer Sue Falsone he left the game. Rivera has a left hamstring strain and is listed as day-to-day.
