Dodgers Activate Javy Guerra, Option Stephen Fife To Triple A

As expected, the Dodgers reinstated Javy Guerra from the bereavement list on Wednesday. The reliever is back after missing four games while with his family in Mexico as his father recovered from open heart surgery. Guerra said his father was doing well.

Stephen Fife, one night after allowing just one run in six innings against the Phillies in his major league debut, was optioned back to Triple A Albuquerque. The move gives the Dodgers an eight-man bullpen until Monday, when Chad Billingsley will be activated to start in St. Louis.

In other news, Ted Lilly will throw a bullpen session on Friday in New York. It will be his second time throwing off a mound since hitting the disabled list on May 29.

Starting Lineups

Andre Ethier is getting a routine day off, and manager Don Mattingly said it was just a day of rest for the right fielder. Mattingly said with Thursday's off day and Friday's night game, it was almost like three days off. Tony Gwynn Jr. gets the start in right field.

Ryan Howard gets the day off for the Phillies after starting two games in a row. Ty Wigginton starts at first base.
