Clayton Kershaw is 7-1 with a 1.23 ERA in his last eight starts against Arizona.

Clayton Kershaw takes the mound for the Dodgers on Friday night, one night after Nathan Eovaldi picked up a win in Arizona, just like last August 7.

Kershaw faced off with fellow Cy Young Award candidate Ian Kennedy in that August start, and Kershaw came into the game having won his previous five starts. Kelly Johnson touched up Clayton Kershaw two batters into the game for a two-run home run, but the Dodgers clawed their way back to a 3-2 lead.

Kershaw retired 17 of 20 batters after the Johnson home run, but then allowed a one-out single to Colin Cowgill in the seventh. Then Cody Ransom, who was 3-for-19 on the season, took Kershaw over the left field wall for a 4-3 lead.

That was the last loss of the season for Kershaw, who went 8-0 in his final nine starts, allowing nine total runs the rest of the season. The loss was also the only blip in Kershaw's last eight starts against the Diamondbacks.
