One night after Chad Billingsley won his fifth straight start, the Dodgers send another red hot pitcher to the mound in Clayton Kershaw on Wednesday night against the Pirates.
Kershaw has won three straight starts of his own, with seven strikeouts in each win. Kershaw has allowed four runs in those three starts, with four walks in 22 1/3 innings.
Last season Kershaw had a pretty ridiculous run down the stretch. If this season he can duplicate his final 10 starts from last year (8-1, 1.38 ERA, 71 strikeouts in 72 innings), Kershaw's final 2012 numbers would look like this:
34 starts, 18-7, 2.42 ERA, 0.976 WHIP, 228 strikeouts, 54 walks in 234 2/3 innings.
Something to shoot for.
