Catching up on the news of a busy weekend as the Dodgers try to sweep the Marlins on Sunday afternoon, here are some things that may have slipped through the cracks of the blockbuster trade and the Vin Scully news.
Chad Billingsley will have another MRI in the next few days, when the swelling subsides, to see if there is anything else going on with his sore right elbow. Manager Don Mattingly said he wasn't sure whether or not Billingsley would be ready to return once his 15-day disabled list stint is up. The earliest possible date Billingsley could return is September 9, the date of the final game of a weekend series against the Giants at AT&T Park.
Shane Victorino is day-to-day with back tightness. Mattingly said he hoped it would only be a day or two.
Mattingly on Saturday's trade: "This is an exciting day for our team, and for our organization. It's a fun time."
Josh Beckett after his postgame introductory press conference on Saturday was asked what the talk around the league was about the Dodgers and their new ownership group. "I don't know what the league perception is, but I'd like to be on this side. It's awesome."
"Who doesn't want to go to Hollywood to play baseball?" Beckett rhetorically asked.
Vin Scully's press conference will start at 10:30 a.m.
