The Dodgers welcomed back Matt Guerrier on Thursday, activating the right-handed reliever from the 60-day disabled list before their game against the Diamondbacks. He had been sidelined since April 19 with right elbow inflammation, and after some setbacks in his rehab has been relatively pain free for the last month or so, gradually getting his arm ready for return.
Guerrier pitched in six rehab games this month for Class A Rancho Cucamonga.
To make room on the active roster for Guerrier the Dodgers optioned Josh Wall to Triple A Albuquerque. Wall was recalled on Monday in Denver.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred shortstop Dee Gordon to the 60-day disabled list. Though this is more of a procedural move as Gordon tore a ligament in his right thumb on July 4. The earliest he can now return is Monday.
