Minor League Player of the Day – Jesus Valdez - 2 for 4. Nobody really deserved this award in a 10 - 0 loss, but I had to give it to somebody so I chose Valdez who had a pair of hits after a breakout season in 2012. The former pitcher finished the 2012 regular season with a team high 9 homers, and he also had an OPS of above .900 for the year.
Rookie Ogden – The Raptors 2012 season ended just like it had in the previous 2 years; with a loss in the championship series as Ogden fell to the Osprey 10 - 0 on Friday. Staff ace Ross Stripling had the worst outing of his professional career as he allowed 5 first inning runs, and overall gave up 7 scores on 8 hits over 3.2 frames. Carlos Frias permitted a pair of runs to score in relief, and by that time the game was well out of hand since the offense couldn't even muster up a single run. The main problem was that Ogden didn't record an extra base hit in their must win game as the team managed just 5 singles. Jesus Valdez and Delvis Morales both went 2 for 4, while Malcolm Holland had the only other hit of the game for the Raptors.
Coming up – The minor league season is finally over, but that doesn't mean the minor league coverage will stop until next April. I'll have the minor league season's in review over the next month, and then we'll start the TBLA prospect voting for the 2013 season. After that is done I'll begin my Dodger prospect ranking, which will take us all the way through the off-season.
