The Dodgers look to pull even closer in the National League wild card race on Saturday as they continue their weekend series with the Reds at Great American Ball Park. Stephen Fife gets the call in the middle game of the series.

Fife struck out a career-high nine in his last start, on Sunday against the Cardinals, which was more than his first three starts combined. Fife has had his ups and downs, allowing 31 baserunners in his 21 2/3 innings, but he has not allowed more than two runs in any of his four starts.

Fife has the longest streak by a Dodgers pitcher of starts with two runs or less to begin a career since Nathan Eovaldi, who also did so in four straight starts last season. Edwin Jackson did so in his first six career starts in 2003 and 2004, though Jackson did mix in a relief appearance in which he allowed three runs.

Mat Latos gets the start for Cincinnati, who remain with a magic number of just one to clinch the National League Central. Latos has lasted seven innings or longer in eight of his last 10 starts, averaging exactly seven innings per start with a 2.83 ERA during that span. The Reds are 20-10 in his starts this season.
