Corona native and former UC Riverside Highlander Joe Kelly gets the nod for the Cardinals against the Dodgers in Game 1 of the NLCS on Friday night in St. Louis.
Kelly is making his fourth career start against the Dodgers and his fifth career appearance. He is 1-1 with a 3.72 ERA with 10 strikeouts and eight walks in 19... innings against them.
In 2013, Kelly has faced the Dodgers twice. He struck out six in three innings in a relief appearance on May 25 at Dodger Stadium, but also allowed two runs and five hits, including a home run by Adrian Gonzalez. At Busch Stadium on Aug. 6 Kelly walked two and only struck out one, but he also pitched into the sixth inning and allowed only run to pick up the win against Clayton Kershaw.
