The Cardinals named Lance Lynn the starter for Game 4 of the National League Championship Series, to be held Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium. Manager Mike Matheny made the announcement during Saturday's media session at Busch Stadium.

Lynn pitched two scoreless innings of relief in Friday's Game 1, holding the Dodgers at bay in the 12th and 13th innings to earn the victory.

The other Game 4 option for the Cardinals would have been Shelby Miller, who warmed up earlier in Game 1 and will be available in relief again in Game 2.

"Last night we just had to watch and see how things progressed. The intent was to try to get Lance a couple of innings to be similar to what his side day would be," Matheny said. "Then we'd have Shelby ready to go as long as we needed to go. Shelby did get hot, but still should be available to pitch again today."

Lynn was 15-10 with a 3.97 ERA in 33 starts during the regular season, with 198 strikeouts and 76 walks in 201⅔ innings. But he struggled in the NLDS, allowing five runs and 11 baserunners in 4 ... innings in a Game 2 loss against the Pirates.

Ricky Nolasco is scheduled to start Game 4 for the Dodgers. Hyun-jin Ryu starts in Monday's Game 3, also at Dodger Stadium.
