LOS ANGELES -- Ricky Nolasco will face the Cardinals for the third time in 2013 on Tuesday night in Game 4 of the NLCS. It is the first start for Nolasco in 20 days, as he tries to get the Dodgers even in the series.

Nolasco allowed one run in seven innings in a win over the Cardinals in Miami on June 16, when he was still the Marlins. On Aug. 7 Nolasco allowed three unearned runs in five innings in a win at Busch Stadium.

"The more you see a team, the better it is, obviously. Whether the results are good or bad," Nolasco said on Monday. "You know what adjustments you do have to make if they're on you or what things you want to keep doing if you do have success against a team."

In his career Nolasco is 3-4 with a 3.84 ERA in 11 games against the Cardinals, including 10 starts, with 43 total strikeouts against just eight walks. From 2011-2013 the ERA is just 0.85 (though with five unearned runs allowed as well) in five starts, with 20 strikeouts and seven walks.

Here are the numbers for the active Cardinals against Nolasco in their careers. They are quite robust:

  • Carlos Beltran: 16-for-47 (.340), home run, six walks, 11 strikeouts
  • Matt Holliday: 12-for-26 (.462), three doubles, triple, two home runs, walk, two strikeouts
  • Jon Jay: 7-for-13 (.538), double, hit by pitch, strikeout
  • Daniel Descalso: 4-for-13 (.308), double, walk, two strikeouts
  • David Freese: 6-for-12 (.500), double, three strikeouts
  • Yadier Molina: 3-for-11 (.273), hit by pitch
  • Tony Cruz: 0-for-10 (.000), two strikeouts
  • Matt Carpenter: 1-for-5 (.200), walk
  • Matt Adams: 0-for-5 (.000), three strikeouts
