The Dodgers have Andre Ethier on their National League Division Series roster but as expected the outfielder isn't in the starting lineup for Game 1 against the Braves. Skip Schumaker gets the call in center field for the Dodgers in the series opener.

In addition, Yasiel Puig is hitting fifth, something he has done only once this season, on Aug. 25. Manager Don Mattingly hinted on Tuesday that without Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier Puig might move to the middle of the order.

Schumaker started four postseason games in center field for the Cardinals in 2011, including three in the World Series. In 2013 with the Dodgers he played 29 games at the position, including 17 starts.

"I've started postseason games there before. I don't think that's going to be a problem," Schumaker said during the team's workout at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday. "We're a better team with Andre Ethier or Matt Kemp out there. But if I'm out there, I feel good enough to contribute."

Schumaker hit .263/.332/.332 on the season, and is 4-for-9 (.444) with a double in his career against Braves starter Kris Medlen.
