The Dodgers and Tigers watched the 2013 World Series on television after losing the NLCS and ALCS respectively, but those two teams are the favorites to win the 2014 World Series, per the folks at Bovada.
The Dodgers, who lost to the Cardinals in six games in the National League Championship Series, are installed as 7/1 favorites to win it all next season. But before we start planning a parade through downtown Los Angeles a year from now, we should remember that the Dodgers were favorites to win the 2013 World Series for most of the second half, after a 53-13 (.803) stretch vaulted them from last place to control of the National League West.
Among divisional foes, the Giants have 18/1 odds to win it all, the Diamondbacks are 40/1, while the Rockies and Padres are 66/1.
The Tigers lost to the Red Sox in the ALCS in six games, but have 9/1 odds to win the 2014 World Series per Bovada. The 2013 champion Red Sox and runner-up Cardinals have 10/1 odds to win it all next year, the same odds as the Nationals, who went from 98 wins in 2012 to 86 wins and out of the playoffs in 2013.
Here are the odds for every team to win the 2014 World Series:
